Welcome to the kitchen

The kitchen features recipes that I have recently made and my notes on them. The kitchen is divided into two parts: the bakery and the restaurant. The bakery holds my baking recipes and the restaurant holds my cooking recipes :)

The bakery:

Ingredients for soft vanilla cake:
  • 300g plain flour
  • 25g cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 113g butter
  • 105g vegetable oil
  • 332g white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 337g buttermilk


Method for soft vanilla cake:
  1. Preheat your oven to 165 degrees celsius fan forced and grease and line a tall baking tin.
  2. Cream the butter, oil, and sugar for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs in one by one.
  4. Add the vanilla, vinegar, and a third of the buttermilk.
  5. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and gently fold into the mixture.
  6. Gently fold in the remaining buttermilk.
  7. Add the mixture to the tin and bake for 30 minutes.

The restaurant:

Ingredients for mac n cheese:
  • 1 1/2 cups macaroni
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 twists black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese


Method for mac n cheese:
  • Boil the chicken stock, milk, garlic powder, mustard, salt, and pepper in a medium pot.
  • Add the macaroni and cook for 9 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in the cheeses until melted.
